Our Mission
The International Confederation of Independent and Regular Grand Lodges (CIGLIR) is dedicated to bringing together sovereign Grand Lodges that share the principles of Traditional Initiatic Freemasonry, in order to strengthen fraternal ties among their members and to promote a shared vision of regular Freemasonry throughout the world.
Faithful to the values of freedom, integrity, fraternity and respect for initiatic traditions, CIGLIR fosters cooperation among its member Obediences in a spirit of mutual trust, mutual aid and dialogue. It is convinced that education and the transmission of knowledge are the foundation of this fraternity: they bring men together beyond their differences and dispel the fear born of ignorance and mutual misunderstanding.
Its work includes:
- Strengthening fraternal relations between member Grand Lodges.
- Developing agreements of recognition and cooperation while respecting the sovereignty of each Obedience.
- Preserving and promoting Traditional Initiatic Freemasonry, founded on work to the Glory of the Great Architect of the Universe, in the presence of the Three Great Lights of Freemasonry.
- Facilitating the exchange of experience, knowledge and good practice between Grand Lodges.
- Promoting education and the transmission of initiatic knowledge as a path of union among men, beyond the borders, cultures and fears that separate them.
- Encouraging acts of solidarity for the benefit of Brethren and their families when circumstances require it.
- Representing the common interests of its members before international partners, while respecting their independence.
- Supporting developing Grand Lodges that share the same traditional and regular values.
CIGLIR never acts in place of its members. It serves as a space for consultation, cooperation and coordination, in which each Grand Lodge retains full autonomy over its governance and customs.
By fostering unity within the diversity of national traditions, CIGLIR helps build an international fraternity founded on respect, trust and fidelity to the essential principles of Traditional Initiatic Freemasonry — a fraternity in which education remains the bond that unites men and dispels the fear of the other.
